North Cork Enterprise Board Prepares to Host Information Event
Date 18.01.2011
Food producers, food retailers, bakers and butchers will gather in Mallow next month to learn about the specialist training and business development opportunities that exist within their sector.
The event, which will take place in Mallow on 2nd February, is designed to provide North Cork food businesses with a unique overview of the wide range of support services that are available to them.
Organised by the North Cork Enterprise Board, the information evening will be presented through a useful seminar format. Industry and business development experts will offer a valuable insight into recent market trends, while also analysing a case study of a successful Irish food SME.
Mr Michael Hanley, Manager at the North Cork Enterprise Board, believes the meeting will equip food entrepreneurs with the practical knowledge they need to enable them to grow their businesses during 2011:
“2010 was a tough year for many business owners but we’re delighted that there have been so many positive headlines in relation to the food sector already this year. Just this month, the Irish Exporters’ Association outlined the important contribution that food exporters have made to boosting Ireland’s export figures. Also this month, the French-based Guide du Routard commended the fantastic standard of Ireland’s restaurants – praise that many commentators believe is closely linked to the emergence of a locally-focused Irish food movement that offers some of Europe’s finest artisan produce.
We’re delighted that next month’s information event will give North Cork food entrepreneurs the chance to discover the training and up-skilling opportunities that are available to them during 2011. Whether a business is targeting the local, national or export market, there are exceptional services in place that can make all the difference. Here at the NCEB, we’re encouraging both start-up and existing food SMEs to keep up to date with the latest trends and developments that will help them maximise their success.
We’re reminding business people in North Cork that there are excellent support structures available for those who want to take their business to the next level. I’d also strongly urge food retailers and producers to attend this free event as a means of networking with other local food businesses in the North Cork region – it’s vital that we continue to work together to nurture a sense of innovation in terms of our local food sector”.
The NCEB information evening will conclude with an open panel question and answer session followed by an informal networking session.
Entry is free and all those involved in food production and food retail in the North Cork area are welcome. Entrepreneurs who are considering establishing a new food business during 2011 are also encouraged to attend.
