EXCITING NEW DEVELOPMENT FOR FERMOY
An exciting new business facility is about to be unveiled in Fermoy. Cork County Council, in collaboration with the North Cork Enterprise Board have converted two existing enterprise units at their Faber Castell facility to a modern hot-desking centre, that can cater for up to eleven new start-ups.
Hot-desking is a solution to situations where business start-ups require flexibile office space for either short or medium term to enable the business get off the ground. Units or ‘desks’ are usually let by the week or month and are fully serviced with telephone and broadband and are provided at competitive rates. The entrepreneurs involved also benefit from the dynamic of working with fellow start-up promoters and collaboration is a normal outcome.
The Fermoy facility will have a total of thirteen hot-desks, each serviced individually. The Centre will also feature a breakout area and meeting room and will be available for letting over flexible periods. The Centre will suit modern office based businesses such as IT or internet businesses, marketing, design etc.
Speaking at a preview of the facilities, which are due to open in mid-February, Mr. Noel O’Driscoll of Cork County Council said: “We have been working on this facility for some time and it is a response to the many requests that we get to provide office space for newer, knowledge type businesses. We are delighted to partner with the North Cork Enterprise Board in this project and we hope that it can develop into an integral part of the industrial infrastructure of Fermoy”.
The centre is fitted out to the highest standards and is modern in design and layout, which is based on the latest ergonomic thinking for these types of facilities. Mr. Michael Hanley, manager of the North Cork Enterprise Board, in praising the Council for the initiative said: “This Centre will fill a real need in the area for short term office type letting and will be suitable for several of the types of clients that we regularly deal with in the Board. Our partnership with the Council in this initiative has provided a valuable facility in Fermoy and the Enterprise Board looks forward to working with the businesses that will emerge from the Centre”.
Initial enquiries for the facility can be directed either to the Economic Development section of Cork County Council or to the North Cork Enterprise Board.
